Death: John Baker Obituary – After learning of the demise of Francis LeRoy Baker, who had worked for Swoyersville Borough in the past, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Baker family. We are deeply saddened by the news of Francis’s passing In 1982, Roy started his career in the police force as a part-time officer. In 1989, he was given the option to advance to a full-time job, which he took advantage of. In the seventeen years that followed, he continued to be of service to the community. It was in the month of October in 2006 that he eventually decided to resign from his previous position.

Roy served as the Juvenile Officer for Swoyersville and was a member of the Luzerne County Drug Task Force in addition to holding the post of secretary for the FOP Lodge 36. He also served as a member of several other organizations. He was responsible for a wide variety of jobs, and these are only a few of the many in his portfolio. The individual who is currently employed by Swoyersville in the capacity of director of emergency management is John Baker, and Roy is the father of John Baker. Currently, John Baker is serving in this capacity as the incumbent.
