Death: Gertrude MacLaren Obituary –¬†Edna Gertrude MacLaren passed away peacefully and in a calm manner on the 31st of March, 2024, at the Country Lane Estates Care Home in Burton, New Brunswick. Her family was by her side at the time of her passing. Her parents, Herbert and Minnie (Baker) Hawbolt, had both passed away prior to her birth on January 5, 1940 in St. Peters Harbour, Prince Edward Island. She was the daughter of both of them. Her children, Debbie Urquhart (Barry) of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Valerie Reid (Dale) of Chauvin, Alberta, Darlene Wilson (Stephen) of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and Alfred MacLaren (Coralie) of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, her grandchildren, Amanda Atyolil, Jason Urquhart, Jim Long

Joshua Long, Adena MacLaren, Jeremy Long, Scott Reid, and Jamie Reid, and her great-grandchildren Ella, Eason, Eli, Emilie, Coen, Landon, Silas, Beckham, and Aubrey, are among those who survive Gertrude. In addition to his nieces, nephews, and other members of his extended family, Martin Hawbolt, who is married to Joan and resides in Orillia, Ontario, shares his home with his family. Her cherished husband Alfred Allison MacLaren, who went away in 2010, her sisters Lois Thibeau, Eileen Howitt, and Edith Webster, as well as her grandson Tyler MacLaren, all passed away before to Gertrude’s passing. In addition to her, her parents were among others who had passed away before she did.

For the wonderful care that they provided to our mother over the course of the past year, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to each and every member of the staff at Country Lane Estates. Sherwood’s Funeral Home, located at 15 Scovil Road in Norton, New Brunswick, has been given the job of making the appropriate arrangements; they have been given this responsibility. The Capital Community Church will be the location of the visitation that will take place on Thursday, April 4, from four o’clock to seven o’clock in the evening. On Friday, April 5, 2024, at eleven o’clock in the morning, the funeral ceremony that will be held will take place at Capital Community Church, which is situated at 71 Downing Street in Fredericton, New Brunswick. At one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, April 6, 2024, the burial will take place in the West St. Peters Cemetery in West St. Peters, Prince Edward Island. The day and time of the burial are still to be determined. In memory of Gertrude, memorial contributions can be made to Capital Christian School (checks should be made payable to Capital Community Church).
