Anglican Diocese Obituary Niagara, (2024) – Death Notice and Visitation

Death: Anglican Diocese Obituary – In light of the demise of the Right Reverend Dr. Terry Brown, we would like to extend our most sincere sympathies to the Anglican Diocese of Niagara. It has been brought to our attention that this catastrophe has occurred. Not only did Bishop Terry preside over a funeral, a baptism, and a confirmation of members of the St. Michael’s parish, but he also led our worship services while our priests were absent due to vacations or illness. He conducted all of these events in addition to leading our worship services.

The members of our Parish Family at St. Michael’s held him in high esteem as a valued friend. The absence of his presence will be felt by each and every one of us in a big way. A Tribute to Each and Every Person: The Reverend Terry Brown, the Bishop During the course of the Easter festival weekend, the Right Reverend Dr. Terry Brown passed away. It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of his loss. His passing occurred during the course of the weekend.

Prior to his election to serve as the fourth Bishop of Malaita in the Anglican Church of Melanesia, Bishop Terry was involved in a variety of ministries. He was ultimately elected to serve in this capacity. In addition to acting as the Asia/Pacific mission coordinator for the Anglican Church of Canada, these ministries included serving as a divinity tutor and instructor at Trinity College. I also served in this capacity. It was in the year 1974 that Bishop Terry was ordained inside the Diocese of Fredericton.

Between the years 1996 and 2008, he served in this capacity. In 2008, he made the decision to retire and ultimately relocate back to Hamilton. During his retirement, he served as an associate priest at All Saints Church in Hamilton, as the bishop-rector of The Church of the Ascension in Hamilton, and most recently, he was appointed as an honorary assistant at Christ’s Church Cathedral in Hamilton. All of these positions were held in Hamilton. Bishop Terry served the Diocese of Niagara, the Anglican Church of Canada, and the wider Anglican Communion with unflinching devotion throughout his fifty years of ordained ministry.

He was a member of the Anglican Communion. We would be grateful if you would pray for Bishop Terry’s family, friends, and coworkers at this difficult time. Please know that your prayers will be greatly appreciated. There will be a memorial service held in his honor to memorialize his life at a later date, and the funeral arrangements will be notified after they have been finalized. The memorial service will be held in his honor.
