The investigation done by the sheriff’s office says that Cornell was declared dead at the scene. Moser is said to have turned around at that point and fired shots at a U-Haul van that was being driven by a man. It looked like both cars were going in the same way. A fight broke out between the man and several other people because the man could return fire, which led to the conflict.

Moser was the one who drove off in the Chevrolet and left it on Starret Road, which is where it was found.

After about five minutes, someone in the 200 block of West Henderson Road called the police to say that shots had been fired during an attempted home invasion or robbery. The thieves took Moser’s BMW X3 from a home in the area. Around 6:45 p.m., someone tried to rob someone who was bringing food in the 400 block of Glenmont Avenue.
