Accident On 77 North Today – According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the northbound lanes of Interstate 77 were shut down in Iredell County as a result of multiple collisions that involved eleven vehicles. At approximately three o’clock in the afternoon, the collision took place approximately one mile after Exit 45 for Amity Hill Road. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP), there were other collisions that took place in the vicinity at the same time, and an aggregate of eleven vehicles were involved. In the collision, there were three people who sustained minor injuries. As officials worked to clean the area, the lanes on Interstate 77 were closed for more than an hour.

Additional investigation into the collision is being conducted by the NCSHP. Because of a rollover accident, the lane of Interstate 77 that travels in the northern direction has been entirely suspended. At the mile marker 16.5, a tractor trailer flipped over, causing piping to pour down a portion of the pavement, as reported by the East River Volunteer Fire Department. Those who are driving should look for an alternative route. In the greater Charlotte area on Tuesday, this comes as the second time that an interstate has been closed. Due to the fact that a truck threw merchandise onto the highway, certain sections of Interstate 277 are currently restricted near Uptown Charlotte.
